Flora London Marathon 2009 · 26 April 2009 ·

Sightsavers' vision is of a world where no one is blind from avoidable causes and where visually impaired people participate equally in society.

Story

Welcome to my Just Giving Page for the LondonMarathon!

Why am I running a marathon?  I have run for many years, encouraged by my Dad (a keen runner himself), and had never thought about running a marathon until 13 April 2008.  I was in London, onTowerBridge, runners streamed past me and I was inspired to take part instead of standing on the sidelines.  The following week my training began. If you would like to hear about my progress – here is my blog.  http://www.realbuzz.com/blogs/u/TraceyMKing/tricky-s-training-blog/.

Why Sightsavers?  I have worked for Sightsavers for 7 years and from the first day I joined I was moved by the impact of the work.  Sightsavers work helps to treat people with eye conditions that can lead to blindness.  I have met amazing people who perform numerous surgeries in a day to restore people’s sight and often in conditions which are challenging because of available medical equipment and trained staff.

Your sponsorship will be a motivation for me to stay on my feet, smile and contribute to Sightsavers work to restore sight and prevent people going blind!

How to donate:  Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Sightsavers gets your money faster and, if you’re ataxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.  Thank you and please sponsor me now!
