London Marathon Walk with Discover Adventure 2017 · 23 September 2017 ·

Every day in the UK, another 240 people wake up to the catastrophic impact of a stroke. The Stroke Association is the only charity in the UK providing lifelong support for all stroke survivors and their families.

Story

My gran was the most incredible person, with an indomitable spirit. She was quite simply a one off!! She passed away in November 2015, aged 100 following a stroke. I have always wanted to do something in her memory, and to raise money for the Stroke Association.

I have always to run a marathon, however because of past health issues, I have come to accept that running a marathon might not be possible. And then a chance comment from a work colleague planted a seed that, I could walk a marathon!! I have always loved walking, and I know my grandmother did too .In 2016 I quit sugar, and lost a lot of weight, and was after a new challenge. I decided a walking a marathon in 2017 was the perfect challenge! I'm a little nervous, but also really excited about this new challenge!!
