I want to make the World of Difference to Albinos like Maria and Emmanuel who live in Tanzania and are under threat from witchdoctors who are targeting them for their body parts to make talismans and potions. At least 25 Albinos like Emmanuel have been killed in the last year including a 7 month old baby. Albinism affects 1 in 20,000 people worldwide but in Tanzania it is more prevalent and affects 1 in 3000. (Maria's husband threw her out of her home after all three of her children were born Albino) Albinos have a short life expectancy with many dying from skin cancer before they reach the age of 30. They also suffer from other health issues such as poor eyesight. They mostly live in extreme poverty, unable to find work, especially as many never attend or drop out of school as they are taunted and bullied. Now they are living in constant fear and danger of being killed and mutilated. ADD and the Tanzanian Albino Society they support, face a unique struggle as Albinism is not widely recognised as a disability. So please help me to make a World of Difference to the lives of Albinos in Tanzania. Click here to read more on the work ADD is doing in Tanzania including links to articles relating to Albino killings. http://www.add.org.uk/tanzania.asp thankyou for your support Tracy *Tanzanian Albino Society are just one example of the many projects ADD supports to improve the world's poorest, most marginalised people.
