CLAPHAM COMMON URGENTLY NEEDS TREES! The Common has lost some 200 in the last fifty years, due to storm damage, disease and old age. The Friends of Clapham Common are working in partnership with Trees for Cities to replace them all with a range of broadleaf species in keeping with the Common’s remaining trees over the next ten years or so. We started in January 2009 by planting 25 trees, and then added a further 33 in early 2010. This planting season we have plans for another 25 trees. All we need is the funds to do it. We did it with the Bandstand; what better and more beautiful legacy can we give for generations to come? So please give what you can.
