Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our Just Giving page.
In a few months time we are going to embark on our year of travelling. We have been toying with the idea of attempting the Inca Trail whilst in Peru, and in the wake of recent events in Haiti have decided to do it in July, and to hopefully raise some cash in the process.
The Inca Trail is a four day hike of approximately 25 miles ending at the world famous Machu Picchu. Although the distance isn't that far, the altitude can make it feel about twice as difficult as hiking the same distance at sea level. The climb to the first pass takes you up from around 2,000m (6,500ft) to more than 4,000m (13,000ft) in a relatively short amount of time. Some guidebooks report that it can vary by up to 25 degrees Celsius, so it can be quite warm during the day at low altitudes and below freezing higher up during the night.
We're not going to pretend that we won't enjoy this amazing experience (see the rest of the pictures), but see it as a fantastic opportunity to raise some cash and do our bit for Haiti.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So please dig deep and donate now, it doesn't have to be much but every little bit counts!!
