This August I'll be trekking across the beautiful Carpathian Mountains in Romania for 4 full days ascending to a number of peaks many of which are over 2,400 metres (Ben Nevis by comparison is just 1,345 metres). So it will make last year's 3 Peaks Challenge look a bit of a doddle.

The reasons for taking on this challenge are numerous. Having supported a Bristol charity in 2007, I am very keen to continue raising money for local causes which don't receive any statutory funding. The Jessie May Trust is also my employer's chosen charity this year so I'll be encouraging friends and work colleagues alike to put their hands in their pockets! 

And I suppose one further reason I'll admit to is that being a competitive so-and-so, I want to take on an event that will stretch me.
