It's a bloody long way MkIII · 3 May 2013

The National Autistic Society is here to transform lives, change attitudes and create a society that works for autistic people. There is still so much to do to increase opportunities, reduce social isolation and build a brighter future for autistic people. With your help, we can make it happen.

Story

* note any donations you make will not come out until August and will be planned to be just after payday on your card*

Yay, welcome to my page and if you've known me for a while you will probably be aware I like to have a go at things that I am generally in no shape to do! So far I've completed 1 event and have 2 more to go over the summer so it has begun!

As before it's important that I up the ante on the funnies so this year there were a bank of comedy giants and writers with pens poised to craft funny lines and witty comments, sadly this is for charity so there are no funds to pay them......cheesy lines and bad puns are the order of the day. The comedians union had also threatened a walk out of the Edinburgh fringe stating that my fundraising page might raise the bar to such enequalled heights as to jeopardise their new material and the same lynch mob of angry clowns are still on my case so rather graciously I'm toning it right down to....well.....kind of unfunny.

"So Trevor tell us what physical challenges you are conquering this year, what peaks of personal endurance are you scaling, what personal pain demons are you confronting....maybe nipping to the off licence for a 4 pack of Staropramen, perhaps a brisk walk to the corner to post a letter, an attempt at eating 4 shredded wheat, nay possibly even handling 5 full Sainsburys carrier bags from the checkout to the car without stopping let the bloodflow back into your fingers?"

Well the plan is 3 fold so you get maximum pain for your donatary dollar.

At the beginning of June is the Tough Mudder which goes a bit like this #mce_temp_url#

At the end of June I'm riding from London to Brighton off road (none of this nancy road riding) which is around 75 miles and then I'm too cheap to get the train so I'm turning around and riding back the next day, a 150 mile cross country ride scaling the North Downs twice (tallest hill in England) and the South Downs (Ditchling Beacon) twice.

Then in July I'm planning a half marathon to finish it off but again this will not be a tarmac based run, instead I'm planning an off road half marathon. I really hate running as I'm built like a sack of spuds so this is possibly my least favourite of the 3.

In August I'm planning a nice long rest, maybe until Christmas.

I'm doing all of this for the National Autistic Society as they do a great job of lobbying and promoting awareness for what is a neurological disorder with no obvious cause or miraculous cure. It is also an invisible disability for all but the more severe cases.

My son Torin is autistic and I would happily take his disability from him if I could.....but I can't and it his cross to bear. So this is part fundraising and part raising awareness.

So if you can sponsor me and make these little things I'm doing a bit more significant I will not forget it, really I won't. I look back on my 2 previous events and read through the comments every now and then and it makes me smile.
