On Saturday 23rd May 2015 a team of 14 individuals will be attempting (and hopefully completing) a triathlon from Chester to Abersoch, also known as #Tri4aCure to raise money for The Cure Parkinson's trust.
The triathlon will happen in the following stages:
Stage 1 – 1.6k swim along the River Dee
Stage 2 – 135k cycle from Chester to Pwhelli
Stage 3 – 10.4k run from Pwhelli to Abersoch
You may or may not be aware of the battle that Neil Lamont has had with Parkinson’s for the last 7 years. In September 2014, he had a major operation known as Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) which involved inserting electrodes into the brain which was extremely successful and for a few months we could all see a huge improvement in Neil.
Unfortunately due to an infection, the operation had to be reversed and the DBS had to be taken out just before Christmas which was a major blow to Neil, the family and close friends. However, Neil has just had the operation again and we are pleased to say that he is recovering well.
Throughout all of these ups and downs the doctors at the National Hospital in London who are helped in their research methods by Cure Parkinsons have been incredible. None of this would have been possible without funding from the amazing Cure Parkinson’s trust whose sole objective is to find a cure and nail this disease.
It’s easy to let Parkinson’s consume everyone involved and become defeatist after all the setbacks, but we are determined not to let that happen. The support from the Trust, along with family and friends throughout these tough times has been unbelievable.
A bunch of close family friends have all got together to create the Tri4aCure team aiming to raise spirits, awareness and money for Cure Parkinsons.
