Story
What can we say; we said we were mad to even consider it and even madder to do it on one of the wettest and windiest June weekends we can remember!
Over the weekend of June 21st and 22nd 2008, 11 riders from the Surrey Chapter UK Harley Riders club rode from Guildford to Perth via Birmingham, Newcastle and Edinburgh returning via Glasgow, Lancaster, Birmingham (again) and Bristol. A total round trip of somewhere between 1,033 and 1,076 miles; and I thought odometers were accurate! We all got safely back to Guildford in a little under 23 hours – Job Done!
If you’re reading this and have already sponsored one of the riders; thank you.
This page will remain open for further donations for a while yet as the cause goes on.
On June 22nd 2007 Trent Holmes, a member of Surrey Chapter UK Harley riders club had major surgery for mouth and neck cancer, followed by extensive radiotherapy. He is now in remission and wants to repay some of the huge debt of thanks he owes to the staff at the Royal Surrey Hospital & St. Luke’s cancer centre by raising a huge sum of money.
Mouth Cancer is one of the lesser-known cancers and its on the increase, not just amongst smokers and older people. Its consequences can be devastating; survival rates aren’t great and every 3 hours someone in the UK dies from it!
The care and treatment Trent received and continues to receive at the Royal Surrey and St Luke’s Cancer Centre quite literally saved his life; so please help us to raise a huge load of cash so they can help more people. All the money we raise will be used for the benefit of Head and Neck cancer research and treatment.
