You all think we’re not quite sane; so now we are going to try and prove it. In June 2007 Trent Holmes, one of our club members had major surgery for mouth and neck cancer, followed by extensive radiotherapy. He is now in remission and wants to repay some of the huge debt of thanks he owes to the staff at the Royal Surrey Hospital & St. Luke’s cancer centre by raising a huge sum of money. On June 21st/22nd Trent, along with his wife and a group of us from SCUK Harley Riders club (of questionable sanity) intend to ride 1,000 miles in a single 24 hour period: an Iron Butt ride. The route is Guildford to Perth via Birmingham and Edinburgh and back via Glasgow and Bristol!! Mouth Cancer is one of the lesser-known cancers and its on the increase, not just amongst smokers and older people. Its consequences can be devastating; survival rates aren’t great and every 3 hours someone in the UK dies from it! The care and treatment Trent received and continues to receive at the Royal Surrey and St Luke’s Cancer Centre quite literally saved his life; so please help us to raise a huge load of cash so they can help more people. All the money we raise will be used for the benefit of Head and Neck cancer research and treatment. Trigger and Surrey Chapter UK (SCUK) (AKA Trent Holmes) The team: John Hedger, Trent & Jan Holmes, Andy Dubé, Vic Walker, Bill Jones, Steve Whitmore, Brian Thomas, David Kim, George Gordon and Steve Hutchinson If you are sponsoring a particular rider, please add their name to the comment field on your donation.
