Story

Latest update:

WE DID IT !!!!!!

Oh yes, we sure did. It was hard work, especially the last (stealth) 14 miles - we were expecting 56 miles but we actually did 70, so everyone who has already sponsored us got additional value for money. See, we not only went the extra mile for BCRT, we went 14 or 'em!!!

So, you can still sponsor us - the page is open for another couple of months so if you forgot there's no excuse, do it now.

Thanks everyone who has supported us, especially Sutty for meeting us in Filey with wine, bread and cheese - it was the best meal any of us has ever eaten. :-)

Who we are:

We are two self confessed fat knackers (not for long though, if we keep training), one secret weapon (he has strong legs, a healthy BMI and an intimate knowledge of tea-and-cake-shops en route), a man with 1 arm (he has one arm and attitude!) and a very fit young lady who might give our secret weapon a run for his money...

We are currently recruiting support crew! :-) Anyone interested in helping out, please let us know.

What we are doing:

We are aiming to cycle from Wetherby to Filey which is quite a tall order for most of us.

Why we are doing it:

To raise money for Bone Cancer Research Trust - a charity that means a lot to us after Julian was diagnosed with primary bone cancer (osteosarcoma) in 2008. Primary bone cancer is incredibly rare, even more so in adults, and as such a tiny proportion of funds donated to cancer research actually goes to bone cancer research the treatments used now - and the success rates - are pretty much the same as they have been for 20+ years. Although it is a rare cancer it can be so very destructive - after 4 lots of chemo and despite the best efforts of the doctors, Julian had to have his arm amputated.

When we are doing it:

October 1st  and 2nd, 2009
