**UPDATE**********
TransRockies: My race partner and still my wife! (Carrie Carruthers) and I completed the 7 days, 600 kilometres, 12,000 metres of ascent with 46 hours in the saddle. We finished 3rd in our category! We were also on the podium for 4 out of the 7 stages and the top placed British team, not just in our category, but at the TransRockies!
TransAlp: Gary Hill & Guy Exley (veteran men's team) Brian Tear & Martine Verweij (mixed team) Adam Toft & Gary Tee (men's team) all successfully completed the TransAlp and thank you for your donations so far - See the news page at http://members.lycos.co.uk/mountainbiking/transalp2005/ for more details

In 2004, after 8 days, 665 kilometres, 22,640 metres of ascent and over 51 hours in the saddle Pete Brown and Gary Hill completed the 2004 TransAlp challenge (See http://members.lycos.co.uk/carriecarruthers/transalp). In the process we raised over £800 for the Multiple Sclerosis Society. Not content with the challenge of 2004 a team of friends are undertaking either the TransAlp or the TransRockies challenge. In the case of Gary, both!
TransAlp - Toughest mountain bike race in the world - for charity. http://transalp.upsolutmv.com/en/
Between the 16th and 23rd of July 2005 we will be competing as Gary Hill & Guy Exley (veteran men's team) Brian Tear & Martine Verweij (mixed team) Adam Toft & Gary Tee (men's team) in what is widely regarded as the toughest mountain bike race in the world.
To give you an idea of the magnitude of this undertaking, it is a stage mountain bike race over 8 days incorporating over 22,600 meters (74,000 feet) of climbing (over two and a half times the height of Everest) in comparison with the Tour de France takes in 28,000 meters of climbing in 3 weeks. The distance covered is to be round 740 km (460 miles). The race starts in the Bavarian Alps, Germany, continues through the Stubai Alps, Austria, the Italian Dolomites before finishing directly on the beach of Jesolo´s coast at the Adriatic Sea.
TransRockies - Also billed as the toughest mountain bike race on earth with the most technical and challenging riding - for charity. http://www.transrockies.com/
Between the 7th and 13th of August 2005 we will be competing as Gary Hill & Carrie Carruther (veteran mixed team) Pete Brown & Frank Newcombe (veteren men's) in what, again, is widely regarded as the toughest mountain bike race in the world.
To give you an idea of the magnitude of the TransRockies, it is another stage mountain bike race over 7 days incorporating over 600 kilometres (373 miles) and 12,000 attitude metres (39,370 feet) of climbing. The race is held in the Canadian Rockies and starts in Fernie, British Columbia and continues through the Rockies crossing the continental divide a number of times before finishing in Canmore, Alberta.
The aim is to finish the races and raise money for the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
Thank you for taking the time to read this (and hopefully for your pledge).
