The Christie - Manchester to Blackpool Bike Ride · 10 July 2011 ·

The Christie charity provides enhanced services over and above what the NHS funds. Your support can help us to fund life-changing and potentially life-saving projects that will benefit cancer patients both now and in the future.

Story

I'm going to try my very best to cycle 62 miles (100 km) from Manchester to Blackpool for The Christie on Sunday 10th July just to thank them. In 2009 I was diagnosed with a largish pituitary tumour. I'm fine now!

** UPDATE: Did it! V sore bum! Thanks to You & The Christie** DONATIONS ARE STILL ACCEPTED AFTER THE EVENT - YOU ARE NOT TOO LATE.        This ride is going to hurt - It will be worth it though. In some way hopefully it helps those who have just been diagnosed with a pituitary tumour by showing that I'm daft enough to do this.

Through the incredible skill of the brilliant neurosurgeon Kanna Gnanalighman and care of the staff at Salford Royal (Hope Hospital) the tumour was removed last year. My treatment both before and my continued aftercare is through The Christie, (the pioneer 'Red Sock' Professor Peter Trainer) - they're absolutely brilliant! Really they are!

The Christie are doing so much groundbreaking world-class research, and giving the training to produce an exceptional calibre of specialist care. I've experienced the care that they give - it's amazing. I want others to experience this, and with all our support they can continue their work.

Please donate whatever you can, however little it is. Every little bit helps people a lot less fortunate. By giving a little you are helping a lot. You are giving hope.

Thank you!
