My story

3 Canadian Hong Kongers take a journey in the name of adventure, aid, and awareness.  Updates at:  www.tuktukcanucks.com
Description
From 08 to 25 March 2012, 30 teams from the UK, Europe, North America, Asia, and Australia will travel over land from Krabi, Thailand to Jakarta via motorised rickshaw to raise funds for charity in Rickshaw Run Southeast Asia, an event sponsored by ASEAN to promote greater integration among ASEAN member countries. We have 2 weeks and many many kms to cover.

Completing the 15 day race will be challenging and full of difficulties and uncertainty. It'll be demanding both physically and mentally. Driving 250+ kms on a daily basis through rough and inhospitable terrain is no game for the weak nor any comfortable vacation. Potential risks include:

• Car accidents on Thai, Malay, and/or Indonesian highways at high speeds
• Imprisonment and fines in any of the above mentioned countries for various reasons
• Being lost and misguided for several hours given road conditions and unknown variables
• Car accidents, breakdowns, and injury in very rural areas far from major populations
• Highway robbery, theft
• Political strife and unknown risks in various locations including the south of Thailand and Sumatra
• Food poisoning
• Sun stroke
• Corrupt officials who won't let you travel until receiving bribes
• Rough, unmarked, TukTuk unfriendly roads
• Poor medical treatment in certain parts
• Malaria and other ailments that can occur
