My story

Hello and thank you for visiting the Tundra & Lightning team fund raising page. We, Mr. Nicholas Farnhill and Mr. Christopher Meachin, have decided to take part in an awesome icy adventure; riding wildly unreliable motorbikes up frozen rivers and winter roads to the Arctic Circle in the depths of a Siberian winter. Very, very frightening.

Well, the slightly frightening bit is that we literally have no idea what is going to happen or how likely we are to complete it. Which is why (of course) we’re doing it. But we're also doing it for good and hope we can persuade you to help with our challenge and donate a small amount to make it all worth while – even if we do come back a little frost-nipped.

We're raising money for two charities that really mean a great deal to us - charities that help a great many people, brilliantly and tirelessly. Firstly, MIND in memory of Jeremy 'Jez' Delahay and Jimmy Lee. MIND is the leading mental health charity in England and Wales, that has promoted mental health for over 60 years and works for a better life for everyone with experience of mental distress.

Secondly, in loving memory of John Saunders, The Friends of Wimborne Hospital, who provide support by funding selected equipment, making grants for staff training, disseminating information by newsletter and in the local press and by offering services for patients like drinks machines and ward-trolley sales.

To date, we've already raised just over £2,500 for MIND and are now focusing attention on Wimborne Hospital. Thank you so much to everyone who has donated so far.

Remember: Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never share them with anyone or send you unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send ALL your money directly to the charity. They'll make sure Gift Aid (an additional 28%) is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer, too. That means more money goes to the charity, faster, with JustGiving.

We understand times are a little tough and that Christmas has just finished, but please dig deep and donate now. Travelling daily at -42 needs to be worth it ;-)
