Local GP Dr. Martin Lawrence's dying wish was that patients in his practice should be able to die at home; his work was made reality through the work of District Nurse Jane Phillips MBE. The service has grown and now provides free hospice at home care covering five GP practices in Oxfordshire.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

At 2pm on Saturday 25th June 2011, four cyclists from Chipping Norton (Tom Festa, Kevin Falck, Simon Sauvagnargues and Tim Heywood) plan to cycle from Chipping Norton Town Hall to our twin town (Magny-en-Vexin) in France. This is a journey of over 200miles which we are aiming to complete in under 24hours. The route will take us 110 hilly miles to Portsmouth where we will take the overnight ferry for a well-deserved rest and then we will have 8 hours to complete the final 100 miles into Magny.

We are aiming to raise £1000 for our wonderful Lawrence Home Nursing Team who offer skilled, nursing care, free of charge, to terminally ill patients in the Chipping Norton area who wish to spend their final days in their own home. The Lawrence Home Nursing Team was established in 1999 in memory or Dr. Lawrence who was a GP in Chipping Norton and was himself diagnosed with a terminal illness. During the last few weeks of his life he was cared for at home with extensive nursing and medical support. It was his wish that other patients choosing to remain at home would be have the benefit of this type of support. Lawrence Home Nursing Team funds come from gifts, legacies, sponsorship, donations from trusts and business and of course fundraising activities such as this venture.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure.
