Story
We did it!!
The team completed the 3 Peaks in a time of 22 hours and 55 minutes.
Despite an early fall we managed to do it with the help of enough nurofen to kill a small horse.
You can still donate though - we're going to set up an event - watch this space, and we're hopeful of pushing over the £3,000 mark, so please give what you can!
Welcome to the fundraising page for our 3 Peaks attempt.
We set ourselves this challenge as a way of raising funds for the Everyman Campaign for male cancers, and also to give Nick something decent to write about, instead of the Wakfield egg chasers. (if you're a rugby fan, I say that in jest, so please still donate. If not, I say it in seriousness, please donate more)
I think it's a fair assumption to make that the majority of us will know somebody who has been affected by male cancer. It's something we all hope won't happen to us, but the statistics aren't on our side. 95 men a day are diagnosed with Prostate Cancer. it kills one man every hour. A man dies every 5 days from Testicular Cancer, a rate that has doubled in recent years.
However, it's not all doom and gloom. Early diagnosis of prostate cancer leads to a much higher survival rate, and 99% of testicular cancer is cureable if caught early enough; that's the key. Raising awareness is crucial, something that's a major factor in our attempt.
Please pass the word around about what we're doing, if even just one person checks themselves, it could help save that person's life. Basically the six of us are heroes. However, we're modest heroes, and whilst I know that you'll want to shower us with compliments and gifts, we ask that you transfer that adulation to donations to the Everyman Campaign. Luckily for you, you can do exactly that on this very page!
We've set a whopping £6,000 as our target, and 24 hours as our time to finish the whole thing in. Please give what you can, and then walk around smugly knowing you're a good person, and no doubt better than the person that you've donated more than.
