Story
Dear all,
As some of you may be aware, my niece Becca was tragically killed in an accident a few weeks ago whilst on her gap year in Mexico. In trying to come to terms with her death we have set up a charity in her name which we hope will keep her memory fresh and bring some positives out of this desperately sad time.
The charity is called the Becca Owen Memorial Foundation and the aim of the trust is to raise money to enable under-privileged children in the Shropshire area to enjoy days out and trips away. The driving force behind this fund for our family is to honour Becca's incredible zest for life and to provide children with an opportunity to enjoy new experiences just as Becca did.
We see no fitter tribute to a remarkable girl.
It is because of this that I have asked to be released from my fundraising duties for the Dockland Settlemet Trust and the trustees have kindly agreed to hold all current pledges and transfer all monies directly over to the Becca Owen Memorial Fund. My running the marathon will be the first fundraising event for the charity and I'm looking forward to winning the race! (Really must start that training...) While the charity is now registered and up and running, we are still in the process of creating a webpage and finalising some administrative tasks. I will e-mail the web address to all those who sponsor me as soon as it is in place and I hope you will take the opportunity to visit the site. Thank you all for your support, Dan
