Cut to the present and, despite all the odds, what you see is a three-strong sporting machine. We are battling through training and will be competing on 4th July at Eton's glorious (and hopefully warm) Dorney Lake.

We will be swimming 400m across the lake, cycling 20k round it and then finishing off with a 5k run. Phew!

We're raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support. We like them because as well as helping with the medical needs of people affected by cancer, they also look at the social, emotional and practical impact cancer can have, and campaign for better cancer care.

This is also a big up to Beck's wonderful parents, Caroline and Meredith, who have the last couple of years both battled with cancers with courage and dignity. They are the great inspiration.
