In the UK

  • Breast cancer is the most common cancer and accounts for nearly one in three of all cancers in women
  • One woman in nine will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime
  • Breast cancer is the second biggest cause of death from cancer in women

Every year

  • Over 45,500 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer
  • Almost 12,500 women will die from breast cancer

Every month

  • Over 3,800 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer
  • Over 1,000 women will die from breast cancer

Typhoon Tigers is a London based dragon boat club which was originally set up in 2003 as a charity team by a bunch of like minded friends. This year we were promoted to the BDA Premier League after winning the 2007 BDA Standard League in both the 200m and 500m divisions.

Following on from our successful charity campaigns for the GRR 2007 and Vogalonga 2008 where we raised in excess of GBP4k for the NSPCC and Demelza Children's Hospice, we are entering in the Great River Race on Sat 13th Sept 2008 to raise money for the Breast Cancer Campaign.

The GRR is known as the London River Marathon with paddlers completing a gruelling 22 mile course along the River Thames from Richmond to Greenwich.

I don't need to tell you how terrible breast cancer is and that it ruins and devastates friends & families. Our club, Typhoon Tigers DBC, would like to do our bit to raise some money for those who lives are affected by breast cancer.  Winning races is great fun, but the feeling of helping save lives is absolutely priceless.

With many thanks,

Andrew Liu

Please Note: Typhoon Tigers are raising money entirely for the Breast Cancer Campaign and all proceeds will go straight to the chairty  :)

Nilesh will also be planning on cycling the course which is about 40miles on the road.
