The Hospice helps people to live their precious lives well. Our care has many forms – at home, in our outpatient Spring Centre or through specialised care in one of our Hospice beds - and is defined by each person's need. We rely on donations to raise the £6m we need each year to fund our free care.

Story

Why the Hospice of St Francis?

I am helping the hospice because I know how hard it is to find help and support for a child who has lost a parent so I particularly admire the work they do with bereaved children.

The hospice of St Francis work with terminally ill people and their families, offering a huge range of services from professional medical care & support to financial advice such as benefit entitlement, as well as incredibly important and highly beneficial bereavement services.

They provide all of their services completely free of charge and they only receive about 18% of the funding they need from the NHS so they rely on super stars like you to find the rest of the money.

If you are thinking of sponsoring me but want to know where your money would go, here are just some examples of what the hospice could do with your help:

• £1 could pay for a hypodermic syringe.
• £3 could pay for lunch for a patient OR 250 medicine spoons OR a dressing pad OR a roll of bandages OR 15 patient identification wristbands.
• £5 could provide all meals for one day for a patient staying in our Inpatient Unit – so breakfast, lunch, dinner and any snacks!
• £20 could fund an hour’s support for a child coping with losing a loved one, with one of our highly trained Children’s Support Workers.
• £38 could run our minibus to transport patients from home to the Hospice for one week.
• £77 could help our volunteer gardeners to maintain our beautiful landscaped gardens which are loved by patients and their families.
• £85 could provide an hour of nursing care on our Inpatient Unit, which operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
• £100 could buy a day’s shift for one of our specialist home care nurses.

Please dig deep!

Please help me to raise as much money as possible for this amazing cause! I am trying to raise a minimum of £500 but there is no minimum donation - any amount you can afford will make a difference - I know all too well what it's like to manage on a small budget so please don't be put off because you think your donation would be too small to count! On the other hand, there is no maximum amount either! So, if you can afford to donate more - please do! The hospice offers such a vital and worthy service and they really do make a huge difference to people during one of the most difficult times of their lives.

Thank You Very Much!
