We are a relatively small charity that makes a HUGE impact on the lives of children, young people and Adults with additional needs and disabilities in West Essex and Uttlesford. The Under 19 Scheme is one of the many services that Accuro run. It provides young people aged 11-19 social and leisure opportunities in the way of two weekly Youth Clubs that take place in Great Dunmow and Saffron Walden. Our young members enjoy coming to the club to socialise and interact with their peers in a safe and relaxed environment with our dedicated staff and volunteers. The Accuro Under 19 Scheme aims to provide the same opportunities to our young people as would be available at any other youth club, and as part of this we try to provide a weekend residential trip once a year for all of the group. This gives the young people independence, as well as allowing the parents and carers a chance to relax and have some respite from the sometimes challenging role of being a parent of a child with additional needs. The young people that attend this weekend thoroughly enjoy themselves and we have seen many people come back from this trip having learnt a new skill, able to socialise with their peers easier or become more independent. The Under 19 Scheme Parents and members value this trip very much, and this year we were unfortunately told that the funding for such a trip would be lost. Speaking with volunteers and staff at the Scheme we decided we would do everything we could to raise the money ourselves. Therefore we will be organising and running many events over the next four months to try and raise money for this invaluable break. Please support us in any way you can. Every donation will make a BIG difference. Thank you FUN RUN: On the 9th October 2011 We will be holding a fun Run at Sallets Farm in Barnston. This will be a 8km route and a 2km route. This will involve Declan running form our youth club in Great Dunmow to our Youth Club in Saffron Walden, Gemma R swimming as far as she can in 2hours, and Gemma W will be cycling from our Hastingwood office near Harlow to our Great Dunmow Youth Club.
