5.4 million children across the world are currently trapped in orphanages – even though 80% of them have family they could live with if they had the right support. Orphanages harm children, depriving them of love and exposing them to abuse. Your support helps us get children to back to family.

Story

Mongol Rally 2008

We're four students who have decided to drive ten thousand miles from London to Mongolia next summer for charity. In a one litre car, like you do. We don't have any experience of doing this sort of thing, and none of us know much about cars (yet), but we're going to give it our all and hopefully raise lots of money for charity and get back home in one piece! For more information please visit the Mongol Rally website: http://mongolrally.theadventurists.com/ or our team website to follow our progress, read our online blog and see further information about our route, team, car and charities: http://mongolrally08.theadventurists.com/uglyducklings.

We have also set up an online photo account with photos of our little car for everyone to see: http://picasaweb.google.com/dthornewill/MongolRally2008

The charities we're supporting are 'Mercy Corps Mongolia' who aim to give a better quality of life to the residents of rural Mongolia, accessible via http://www.justgiving.com/uglyducklings and 'Hope and Homes' (who you can support on this page), who are dedicated to finding homes for orphaned, abandoned or vulnerable children in the poorest regions of the world. We are aiming to raise at least £1500 for each of these charities so any contribution you make will be gratefully received. Please donate; we can't do it without your help.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. Our Charities will receive your money faster and, if you are a taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

Thanks for your support,

Danny, Alex, Sam & Joe
