Thanks for visiting my page and donating generously. It’s an inspiration and very much appreciated - it helps me put in the miles!
I was originally inspired to participate in this event when endurance cyclist Mark Beaumont reminded me that ‘anything is possible’. I trained hard for last year’s ride and he was right - I went from absolute novice to leading the ride round L’Arc de Triomphe.
I wanted to repeat the ride this year because I was truly inspired by the many myeloma patients, doctors, nurses and family members I had the privilege to ride with. All their stories were amazing but none more so than those of the patients.
Myeloma UK does some amazing work - with their focus on the discovery, development and access to new effective treatments for myeloma - making a significant difference to patients’ lives, everyday.
Myeloma is a type of bone marrow cancer. Bone marrow is the spongy tissue at the centre of some bones that produces the body's blood cells. It's called multiple myeloma as the cancer often affects several areas of the body, such as the spine, skull, pelvis and ribs. Treatment can often help to control the condition for several years, but most cases of multiple myeloma can't be cured. Research is ongoing to try to find new treatments.
