Fancy Dress Walk Up Snowdon · 24 April 2013

Llanberis MRT is one of the busiest in the UK with an annual callout rate of over 220 incidents. Based in and around the Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) area the team is made up of about 50 volunteers who are all experienced mountaineers. As a registered charity we rely entirely on your donations.

Story

Every year for the last walk of the academic year the UMWC walk up Snowdon in fancy dress, whilst on last years walk we realised the potential to raise money whilst doing this event. As a committee we have chosen Llanberis Mountain Rescue team (who cover Snowdon) as our charity.

The Llanberis Mountain Rescue Team is a fully voluntary organisation which responds to mountain incidents for those in need on Snowdon and the surrounding mountains. The team is on-call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and relies on donations from members of the public to carry out this essential life-saving rescue service.

So on the 11th of May the UMWC will donning their best fancy dress costumes and trekking up the highest mountain in England and Wales in order to help our worthy cause. Last years fancy dress costumes ranged from Nuns to Transvestites so the pressure is on to beat those costumes.
