UPDATE: New current record (pending Guinness confirmation*) 282 miles, 454 km. Woo!
Many thanks to everyone who has helped out and given loads to this. It could only happen with everyone involved! - Sam
On 29th - 30th September 2007 I will attempt to unicycle as far as I possibly can in 24 hours. The current Guinness World Record™ is 235.3 miles, set by Ken Looi in New Zealand in 2005; and I want to break it.
At Aberystwyth University Sports Centre, I hope to ride over 1000 laps, and top 250 miles. If you can, please come along on the day (and night), and give me the encouragement I'll need to keep going!
My website redwelly.co.uk has some more information, and will have live updates of how far I have ridden! Also there are details for volunteering as an official witness - I need two people for each point around the clock!
I also hope to raise a shed-load of money for Christian Aid, in order to bring something worthwhile out of unicycling in circles for longer than anyone should reasonably want to.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Christian Aid will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please make a donation now!
Many thanks,
Sam
