Story
Hello World,
The idea is simple; on Friday the 20th of June I'm leave Whitehaven Harbour on my unicycle. The goal is to pedal the 200 miles to York.
Originally I wanted to collect money from companies, however this hasn’t got anywhere and so (once again) I’m asking for donations from my family, friends, colleagues and anyone else who wants to donate to the Parkinsons Disease Society.
I feel that I should explain why I’m undertaking this journey. I signed up to the challenge in late 2007. On January 4th, my Grandfather sadly passed away. I knew him as Gowitz due to a mispronunciation when I was a toddler.
For the latter years of his life, Gowitz suffered Parkinsons Disease and this presented difficult times for the whole family. It wasn’t fair.
As a toddler I would quite often have rather impressive tantrums during which I would shout “It’s not fair”. I’ll always remember the response that Gowitz gave me;
“It’s not meant to be fair.”
With this sentiment in mind I completed the London Marathon twice, walked up and down Mt. Kenya, kayaked Alpine rivers, ventured through the slums of Nairobi and got through some of the most difficult times of my life to date.
Life is difficult, times are never easy, things are not fair – and they are not meant to be; but I will still carry on, I’ll do my best and I will smile as I do so.
So I’m going to do this to honour Harry Lloyd – Gowitz to me. Please give whatever you can.
It's not meant to be fair.

p.s. I've been allowing adverts on my website - porlhews.co.uk in return for donations from companies. So far we've had a £1000 donation from Schlumberger!
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Parkinson's Disease Society will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
