Four years ago a group of friends, relatives and associates decided to come together to 'do their bit' for charity by creating a team of like minded souls to compete in the annual dragon boat festival at Bewl Water in Kent. The event has become the largest festival of its kind in Europe. There started a memorable voyage for 'HMS Success' that saw a collection of 'amateur paddlers', finish third, second and first in consecutive years of competition and raise a total of just under £23,000 for the MS Society.

Having concluded that particular 'success story' on the ultimate high, the majority of the gold medal winning crew of 2011 are coming together again as a new entity, to make new waves on the high seas of Bewl in September.

Knowing what it takes to win, Unsunk Heroes will be racing this year to raise  significant funds and awareness for Help for Heroes - a charity that's extraordinary work and results need little introduction or comment, as the nation acknowledges the sacrifices our service men and woman have made in the line of duty.

Our aim is to honour these remarkable people by targeting a podium finish in the Saturday final (14th September) and raising £10,000 for Help for Heroes. We hope our endeavours will further assist the fantastic work the charity does in rebuilding injured soldiers lives.

Please do show your support for this worthwhile cause - whilst the news and extent of casualties may thank fully be diminishing , the need to support our wounded has not.

After setting the times to beat in qualifying, Unsunk Heroes fought their way to within 0.37 of a second of winning the final. Having secured a highly commendable second place on the water, we are desperate to reach our target of raising £10,000 for this great charity.
