As you know I love Yoga and all things Yoga, so naturally for charity it has to be...Yoga.

I'll be doing 108 Sun Salutations on Sunday 2nd November 2008, for the Phoenix Trust... so will need all of your help - wish me luck and strength by donating!

Why 108?  This is a sacred number within Yoga philosophy and is relevant today just as it was 5,000 years ago:

 - The distance between the sun & earth is approx 108 times the sun diameter!

 - The diameter of the sun is approx 108 times that of the earth's diameter!

 - The distance between the moon & earth is approx 108 times the moon's diameter!

 - There are 108 beads on a meditation mala, where the mala represents the ecliptic, path of the sun and moon across the sky!

So how is it that the ancient yogis knew so much of this sacred number 108...coincidence or something else?  They believed that there are just 108 steps between our ordinary human awareness and the divine light at the centre of our being. 

So, help me with each step towards my inner Sun.
