Story
Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
Since we moved to West Barns, the RNLI has always been important to us. This year saw the destruction of Dunbar's Lifeboat by spring storms, so it felt like just the thing to help raise funds.
The event took place on Sunday 28th September 2008. My time slot was 11.50am (Did I manage to get there on time? - Yes and no. I didn't get there 20 minutes before - as I had been told to do - and therefore I had to wait before a group of 7 people abseiled before me).
I want to thank Alison and Steve, Billy, Jane and John and Jane and Mum, and of course Clem, who all came along and cheered me on! Not to forget Lennie of the Shoestring Café by Dunbar station (who also did the abseil) and family. Lennie was, of course, one of my main sponsors. Here you can relive my descent in every gory detail (photos courtesy of Billy Main): http://www.bubbleshare.com/album/466597
The weather was great - thanks to whoever arranged that - sunshine and a light breeze. What a place to abseil from. The view was stunning. Be warned, this will not be the last abseil I do!
My initial target of £100 has been well and truly exceeded, thanks to so many wonderful people - on and offline!! - I can't believe it, but everybody has been so generous that we have now broken through the £1.000 barrier!! The lifeboat is such a worthwhile charity. Thank you all!
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: RNLI - Royal National Lifeboat Institution gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So please sponsor me now!
Thanks, Ute
