From a Grotto in Deepest Worcestershire:

It’s that time of year down Mencap way
To choose a Santa to ride in the sleigh.
People are coming from far and wide
Because they want to be Santa and have that sleigh ride.
But we elves have done it differently
A Santa we have found
Someone who could do the job and bring cheer all round.

This Santa is a lady, SantaVal to you and me
She smiles a lot and brings us cheer and also makes us tea
She always puts others before herself
And is a great motivator to us elves.
She has worked for Mencap for many years
But from fighting for rights she never demurs.
When there is a problem she is always there
To offer support comfort and care.

A Christmas wish for SantaVal and her elves
Would be that everyone could have the very best for themselves,
That everyone could make the most of their lives,
And that Mencap could help them to make sure their dream arrives,
So we all are equal, standing together
Living our lives and being strong whatever,
Being proud and shouting about what we believe;
It will be amazing to see what together we can achieve.
To do the best in all that we do
With support from all, from me and from you.
