We fight for the hope of young people to create a society built for all children

Story

In November 2007, Val McDermid and Kelly Smith will walk 13 miles through the streets of New York City to raise money for The Children's Society.

Val says: When I had to have two knee replacements, I decided I was going to make the most of my new knees. Not just walking for fun, or for inspiration, but walking to help other people. I'm doing this walking half-marathon to enjoy the new lease of life my new knees have given me, but also to raise money so that children less fortunate than ours can have a better chance at life.Thank you for visiting our fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor us.

Kelly says: I'm still on my first set of knees, but I'm happy to put some wear and tear on them in such a good cause. Every little helps when it comes to raising money for a good cause, so don't hesitate to contribute whatever you can afford.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor us: The Children's Society will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

So please sponsor us now!

Many thanks for your support. We'll let you know how we do.
