Sense is here to support disabled people from the first weeks of life through all the major milestones of adulthood. Over 70 years, we’ve built extensive knowledge and expertise in supporting disabled people with complex needs, including deafblind people.

Story

Our Challenge... to complete 31 miles and climb 2,300 ft in 15 hours.

Our Charity...Sense is the leading national charity that supports and campaigns for children and adults who are deafblind.

They provide expert advice and information as well as specialist services to deafblind people, their families, carers and the professionals who work with them.

As a team of four, we must raise a minimum of £1600 sponsorship so please dig deep for an extremely worthwhile cause.

£5 – Could buy a set of musical bells to help stimulate even the tiniest amount of a deafblind child’s hearing in music therapy.

£15 – Could pay for a tactile book to develop a child’s sense of sight and touch at a Sense family centre.

£25 – Could buy an interactive light tube to help stimulate a deafblind child’s remaining sight.

£50 – Could help pay for a deafblind child’s vital first assessment.£700 – Could send a deafblind child on a dream holiday. These holidays not only provide life-changing experiences, full of fun, learning and special care but they also give carers and family members a well earned break allowing them to spend more quality time with other children and family.

£1,000 – Could enable Sense to buy a sonic chair at one of their day centers enabling more deafblind people to benefit from these sensations. Operated by a large button control these chairs heat up, massage different parts of the body, and vibrate at different frequencies.
