Story
The mission...
To drive a banger with an engine of less than 1000cc from London to Ulaan Bataar in Mongolia as part of the mongol Rally 2005 (www.mongolrally.com). That's about 10,000 miles across Europe, Russia, Kazahkstan, Krygistan and Mongolia.
The vehicle...
We've not bought it yet, but we plan to use a Bedford Rascal or similar type of van. Normally used for delivering flowers, we're going to take it rallying. (We're open to donations of a van, spares and tools)
The team... Well me (Steve) and as long as I can persuade her my very patient girlfirend Becky. I may just tell her we're popping to the shops, and then not let her out until Moskow! It's going to be about 3 weeks of fairly continuous driving (sleeping in the van to save time and money) across some fairly inhospitable roads. (There are only 80 miles of surfaced rd in Mongolia, our route is about 1500miles in Mongolia I think) It's going to be fun, and painful all at the same time, but it's for a very good cause, we're raising money for Send a Cow, www.justging.com.vantastics and Save the Children, we also plan on giving a small donation to http://www.worldlandtrust.org/carbon/balance.htm to carbon balance our journey.
