Story
The annual Varsity March is an 81 mile walk between Oxford and Cambridge, completed in under 48 hours without sleep! Walkers from both Cambridge University Rambling Club and Oxford University Walking Club take part.
The 2014 march took place over the weekend of 21st-22nd June 2014. We set off from Oxford at 11 am on Saturday and finally arrived in Cambridge at 2.20 am on Monday morning!
The full 81 miles was completed by Andrew Elliot, Marc Fiedler, Matthew Ford, Mira Nair, Razvan Ranca, Marta Sarzynska and Steven Smith along with mascot Dylan the Sheep. A further 22 people including Max Andratsch, Emilie Bisset, Vicky Bisset, Fred Bour, Polina Ceastuhina, Shruti Dhaundiyal, Aaron D'Sa, Alan Iwi, Maximilian Jakobs, Bo Li, Victoire de Menonville, Fozia Parveen, Maximilian Schneider, Ping Shen, Emanuel Signer and Kamile Vaupsaite completed the primary target of Oxford to Aylesbury (23 miles) with many also continuing on to Leagrave (42 miles) or Letchworth (55 miles). Meanwhile Maxime Bilhaud, Simon Cottrell, Danusia Lisiecka, Valérie Malard, Jason Pack and Jenny Segal acted as support walkers during the later stages of the walk.
It's not too late to sponsor us! This year we are again raising money for
The Gatehouse (Oxford) and Jimmy’s Cambridge.
These charities carry out vital work among the homeless and poorly
housed of Oxford and Cambridge, so please be generous with your donation! We encourage you to split your donation
between Jimmy’s (this page) and our page for The Gatehouse.
