Story
The annual Varsity March is a mammoth 81-mile walk between Oxford and Cambridge, completed in under 48 hours without any sleep!
The 2015 march took place over the weekend of 20th-21st June 2015. We set off from Oxford at 12 noon on Saturday and finally arrived in Cambridge at 6 am on Monday morning!
Walkers from both Cambridge University Rambling Club and Oxford University walking club took part. The full 81 miles was completed by Sam Cane*, Matthew Ford, Nigel Pamenter*, Razvan Ranca, Stephanie Smith and Te Su, and (as a splinter group) by Paul Cutmore and Mira Nair. In addition Mark Thurman, Emeline Jhowry, Simon Lewis, Han Peng, David Klingle, Angela Grommet and Danusia Lisiecka all walked substantial distances of up to 55 miles on various sections of the walk.
It's not too late to sponsor us! This year we* are again raising money for the Oxford Gatehouse and for Jimmy's Cambridge. These charities carry out vital work among the homeless and poorly housed of Oxford and Cambridge, so please be generous with your donation! We encourage donors to split their donation between Jimmy's Cambridge (this page) and our page for the Gatehouse.
* Sam Cane and Nigel Pamenter are raising
money for other causes as follows:
Nigel Pamenter is raising money for a young individual with Duchenne
Muscular Dystrophy - please visit https://fundrazr.com/campaigns/cl4Q2
