Story

Thank you for visiting our fundraising page.

Yet again, the team had been training hard for the latest challenge to help Maggies Cancer Caring Centres improve their service to the families and suffers of this wide spread illness.  It is a cause very close to our hearts and hence the need to do monumental and quite frankly stupid events.

The team completed this one at 6.15a.m. on Sunday the 4th May at Inverness after leaving Fort WIlliam at 8am Saturday morning.  The route followed The Great Glen for a 32 mile bike ride which we thought would be roads and canal sides but much of it was up through the forest, avoiding trees, rocks and other cyclists pushing their bikes.  Even the downhills were hard work with so much loose stone and sand causing the bikes to skid all over the place. Aching arms on a bike ride??! Vibration white finger all round!

That was immediately followed by a 40 mile trek which again followed forestry paths and with blisters reported in mile 3, the test really began. We hoped the  fantastic views would  distract the team from the terrain and the aches but we were so busy watching our footing that we missed a lot of it.

Our fantastic support team were on hand with the vaseline, pain killers, champagne and beers as well as a big dose of motivation for each team member as they fought their individual pain barriers and negative thoughts of failure.   We are glad to report that everyone completed it who hoped to and they even managed to run over the finish line.

You can still dig deep and sponsor us online if you wish.  It's an easier option than taking part next year!  Get your own team though as I don't see any of us attempting that again.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Maggie's Centres will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

Many thanks from all of us and Maggies 'Customers'  for your support.
