My story

 

Thank you for visiting Belal and Vaska's Birthday fundraising page. Instead of celebrating my 43rd birthday on 15th May this year, and to commemorate what would have been Vaska's 23nd birthday on June 6th, I'm launching Vaska's charity, 'Vaska Ambassador of Angels'.

Vaska Trajkovska passed away on 7th May 2008 from Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) and this charity is to promote some of the causes dear to her heart. Please visit the website at www.ambassadorsofangels.com after 15th May for further details.

Instead of buying me a birthday present or drink, and to remember Vaska on her birthday in June, please donate if you can towards our own inaugural 'Save-a-Back' campaign and other causes -

1. LEARNING FOR LIFE (LFL) - UK/ASIA - overcoming poverty by providing South Asia's poor and oppressed with education and opportunity.

2. SAVE-A-BACK  - INDIA -  with the help of LFL we aim to buy 1000 litter-grabbers, commonly used by Litter Management Operatives in Developed Countries and costing us wholesale £1.20/$2/100 rupees each. Through our NGO partners United Way Mumbai, we will distribute them for free to Mumbai's destitute child and adult slumdog litter-pickers who spend up to 12 hours a day bending down to pick up waste paper and other other recyclable waste products such as cans off the street to sell onto a recycler, earning about $1 a day to feed their families rather than beg on the streets.

3. CIRa - The Center for Institutional Development - MACEDONIA - we will make a private donation to the campaign for the support of sexually abused children and youth in Macedonia, just one of their current programmes.

4. LIFEBLOOD - we will make a private donation to promote awareness about thrombosis, including DVT, and to increase understanding of its causes, effects and the treatment available.
