The Challenge

I shall be riding 22km up Mont Ventoux to raise money for Charlie's Angels - a charity set up in memory of Charlie White, nephew of e3's Tris. Charlie's Angels is a charity that is dear to the hearts of us at e3. What's more if we raise over £2,740 I'll commit to ride up Mont Ventoux twice - Hence 'Venttwo'. £2,740 is how much it costs to run the brain tumour research laboratory in Portsmouth for a day.

About Mont Ventoux

Ventoux is one of the most famous mountains in cycling. A regular feature of the Tour de France, Ventoux rises to 6,273ft, nearly twice as high as any mountain in the UK.

I shall be following the same route as the Tour de France ascending froom Bedoin for 22km at an average gradient of 7.5%.

To put it into context (for you Bristolians out there) it is like cycling up the steep part of Park Street - for 22 kilometres.

Charlie's Angels

Charlie White was sadly diagnosed with a rare Brain Tumour in April 2012, he was 2 ½ years old. The treatment was an operation to have the tumour removed followed by chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Sadly after coping with all this treatment he lost his battle and died peacefully at home in his Mummy's bed on New Years Eve 2012. He was such a brave little boy and inspired everyone who came in contact with him.

After Charlie passed on to be looked after by his Great Gramps and Nanny. His family & family friends setup a Brain Tumour Research umbrella group called – Charlie’s Angels. They run fund raising events throughout the year, where all proceeds go to the charity – Brain Tumour Research, to help fund further research

Charlie's uncle Tristan is a much loved member of the e3 family and the moving story he told of his nephew's brave battle moved all of us to want to do more to help with Brain Tumour Research and to honour the memory of brave little Charlie.

About Me

Those who know me will know that I am not really built for going up mountains, at 6'3" and nearly 16st gravity is a foe more than a friend. I have been putting the miles in on the bike recently but there is nothing quite like Ventoux near Bristol so I have very little knowledge of what it will be like. I am expecting to take about 3 hours for the single ascent (I guess 8 hours for the double ascent) 35 degree heat and winds of over 50mph may hamper progress...
