Story

Many of you know that i'm a trustee for Verity the PCOS self help group. I've signed up to the adidas women's 5km challenge to raise money for Verity a very small charity that supports thousands of women that have polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) (which 1 in 10 women have).

Each year seems to be a financial struggle and our income last year was £34,000 which was promptly utilised to print thousands of booklets, posters, organise conferences, raise awareness and run a charity. We have no paid staff, and all the Trustees and volunteers keep the charity running on a daily basis. This year we are really struggling financially to cover our overheads - of which we have cut in themselves substantially over recent years.

The money I raise will be going towards our £5000 target, which we hope to reach by the end of PCOS Awareness Week 05-12 November. This money is to cover the cost of running and maintaining our discussion board and website for the next 12 months.

So please donate whatever you can - just a couple of pounds makes the difference to Verity. I would love to say i will run but more than likely, I will walk the whole way around, and run the last few hundred metres whilst promising myself next year that i will do better!! I can promise you that I will complete the 5km in less than an hour and try not to fall over backwards just after the finish line like i did two years ago!
