My story

 
Welcome to my fundraising page. I am going to get very cold. In February 2010 I will be driving a team of Alaskan huskies through the frozen wilderness, hundreds of miles north of the Arctic Circle. I'll be responsible for my own team of huskies and will be trained to drive them for approximately 35 km a day. With the support of Taisto Torneus, a seasoned arctic explorer, our group will be traveling for 5 days, once we have learned the necessary skills to drive, and stay alive! When I started training I could just about run a mile without passing out and more than 8 press-ups at a time was a challenge, so there is a long way to go. 
 
 UPDATE: Until I moved I had been able to go training with the wonderful Fortal Siberian Team of huskies in Thetford, and I really miss them, but hope to be able to find time to go over again soon. They are the most dedicated and dynamic team and I have really fallen for the dogs, especially lovely Pashka (see photo) and Flint. Now that I've moved house I'm training on the beach, running in sand and was even swimming in the sea to acclimatise to the cold, last swim (well dip really) November 1st. Running is up to about 4 miles, 3 times a week and the yoga continues, of course. Sponsorship is coming in and I've just raised £155 at a car boot sale.
