Story
On Sunday 30th November I will be running in the Norwich Half Marathon and hoping to raise some money for the Samantha DIckson Trust. I will also be running in memory of Andrew Stringer who sadly died from a brain tumour two years ago. Andrew was a friend of my youngest daughter and his family were our neighbours for about 10 years.
In August 2005 Andrew was diagnosed with a grade 4 PNET – a very rare and aggressive brain tumour. Weeks of radiotherapy and chemotherapy followed although nothing seemed to work and Andrew suffered more headaches and seizures. Andrew underwent a total of five major operations but each time the tumour returned. In August 2006 his family were told that no more could be done for Andrew and he was sent home. Andrew died in the early hours of Sunday morning on 12th November, one month before his 14th birthday.
Since Andrew's death his family and friends have raised money in Andrew’s memory to help raise awareness and fund research into brain tumours, to give hope to other families whose lives are affected by this devastating disease. I would very much like to support this effort and need your help to do so.
