About my charity
:
Deafblind UK
Deafblindness is one of the most challenging disabilities that a person can endure, and has been described as ‘the loneliest condition in the world’
Established in 1928, Deafblind UK is a national charity offering people across the UK living with Deafblindness, or a combined sight and hearing loss, practical daily-living support and access to vital information. Each deafblind person is unique, and sometimes has complicated needs; often their deafblindness is combined with other disabilities, so a care programme can be very complex. By providing human support in the form of help at home, communication and mobility support, counselling, together with specially adaptive equipment, we help deafblind people achieve their full potential, whatever that may be.

| My personal message: |
Hi Thank you for taking the time and visiting this page. I have been training, along with my good friend Lynne Harris, for the marathon since January, which means long runs at the weekend in all weathers, as well as fitting in short runs and other training excersices around work and family - (thanks Kev for being a single parent). We won't mention the times the runs were longer because we got lost - or when we ran along the flooded canal tow path 1 mile into the Gade Harriers 20 mile training run. Long runs, wet feet and tired legs is a very small price to pay when comparing it to the difficulties which people for whom I would like to raise money for have to live with on a daily basis. The Charity I am running for was established in 1928. It is a national charity offering specialist services and human support to deafblind people and those who have progressive sight AND hearing loss acquired throughout their lives. The Charity's aim is to enable people living with this unique disability to maintain their independence, quality of life and reduce the isolation that Deafblindness creates. Did you know red and white means no sound or sight - so if you see a person with a white and red cane they suffer with this disability. I don't think I could cope with either!!! Could you?? Please dig deep and sponsor me online.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Deafblind UK will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
Many thanks for your support. Vicki x
