We believe that all pets should have access to veterinary care – regardless of their owners’ financial situation. Over 100 years, we’ve helped more than 20 million sick and injured pets – providing life-saving vet care to more vulnerable pets than any other animal charity in the UK today.

Story

Hello!

Thank you so much for visiting my fundraising page. I am doing the 2009 PDSA Extreme Africa challenge, trekking in Tanzania, raising funds for this fantastic charity which provides free veterinary treatment to the sick and injured pets of people in need.

I chose this challenge because I work with the young supporters of PDSA and am constantly inspired by their enthusiasm for fundraising. On a personal level, I lost my amazing little dog Jazz last year to cancer, and since then the work PDSA does has just seemed even more important.

So, I need your help! I certainly know that Jazz would love nothing more than a 'walkies' which lasted 10 days, but those of you who know me well know that unless it involves horses, I don't really do exercise -certainly not ten day treks!

So the challenge is to get fit enough to walk for ten days, approximately 8 hours a day, climbing volcanos, sleeping in a tent and all after having a lot of evil-looking injections! Starting in the foothills of 2,590m tall Mt. Longdio, a sacred Maasai mountain, we trek across the floor of the Great Rift Valley right to the foothills of the Crater Highlands and Mt Kitumbeine with the Maasai as guides.

So please sponsor me and help me raise the rather frightening amount I have been set. Donating using this JustGiving page is completely secure and the money you donate goes straight to PDSA. I really am so grateful for your support - it is all of you I will be thinking of fondly when I'm being chased by a lion or falling down a gorge!

However, no matter how scary it seems now, seeing this country and its amazing animals is a dream of mine, so thank you for helping me and for helping sick and injured animals with your sponsorship.

Love Vic x
