225,000 people will develop dementia this year. That’s one every three minutes.

People affected by dementia often feel alienated or lost in a world that doesn't seem to want to think about them. A world of people that tend to avoid the subject, and get short-tempered or embarrassed when someone keeps muddling up words and forgetting people's names.

Unfortunately, a lot of this is down to simply not understanding how common and debilitating many forms of dementia can be. Thankfully, Alzheimer’s Society is getting rid of the stigma around the illness and "transforming the landscape of dementia forever".

Every donation brings us a step closer to the charity's goal until the day we find a cure:"to create a society where those affected by dementia are supported and accepted, able to live in their community without fear or prejudice". Alzheimer's Society works with affected individuals and their families, and has many resources to help those who simply want to find out more.
