Megsy and me have decided to run (no laughing please!!) walk and if necessary crawl the Adidas 5k on September 11th in Hyde Park!!

As most of you who know me well know....... I usually come up with  the excuse of  "I dont do running!!" ...However...this challenge is for a cause which is so personal for us we could'nt say no .

We are running on bahalf of the Rett Syndrome Reseach Trust UK,  for a gorgeous little girl called Francesca and all other the girls and women who suffer from a complex neurological condition called Rett Syndrome.

Until Frankie was diagnosed, we had never heard of this condition, yet  Rett Syndrome affects 1 in 10,000 girls! It is the most physically disabling of the autism spectrum disorders.  It strikes mainly little girls after they may have learned to walk and say a few words.  But  Rett Syndrome is a cruel condition....it takes these new found skills away.....it causes loss of speech, loss of motor control and purposeful hand use, it causes breathing disorders and acute anxiety, seizures, cardiac, orthaepedic and disgestive problems.

In 2007, researchers found how to reverse the disorder in mice, which means that Rett Syndrome could be the first reversible brain disorder. 

The aim of RSRT UK is to raise awareness and funds for the researchers to continue their search for the cure for this condition.  There is a cure out there, we just need to find it!
