Event: Hospice Of St Francis (Berkhamsted) - Strictly Learn Dancing 2012, on 25 February 2012
We help over 2,000 local people each year to live their precious lives well

Story

So, after weeks of stressing out, we took to the stage on Saturday (Feb 25) in front of a crowd of 500 people! And, I have to admit it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be - I'll even go as far to say I enjoyed it and Michael, at the last minute, found his passion for dancing.

Thank you to all those that came along to the night - family and friends -  and those that have sponsored us. And a special thank you to Max from Hemel Martial Arts who let us use his gym for dance practice and Andy from Boxmoor Lodge who opened up his dance floor to us.

And of course, thanks to my boss John Francis who forced me into this challenge - it's something myself and Michael would have never taken on if there hadn't been someone else giving us a shove in the right direction!

And as the cherry on top, we've even managed to bust our fundraising target. But, if you fancy it, there's still time to dig deep.

The Hospice of St Francis estimates to have raised around £20,000 through the glam event, but this could be boosted further as more sponsorship comes in. The charity is a really good cause, which having just been forced to close its day care service due to a cash crisis, needs your support now more than ever.

Here's how your money could help the charity:

*£30 pays for 12 smoothie drinks for patients with poor appetites

*£50 pays for a tank of petrol, keeping specialist homecare nurses on the road for two weeks

*£100 pays for one nurse's shift on the Inpatient Unit

*£150 pays for a six-week course of therapy for a child coping with the loss of a loved one
