The RNLI/Coastguard is the organisation who help if you or your family get into difficulty off the UK coast and all the crews are volunteers. I have pledged to try and raise £500 by completing the Great North Run - that's 13.1 harrowing miles, every penny you can spare makes it worthwhile.
The money I raise will go towards helping the RNLI in St Agnes, Cornwall where they run a small offshore RIB given to St Agnes by Blue Peter in 1968. I spend a lot of time swimming, surfing and diving there at Trevaunance Cove and Chapel Porth - it must be good because the Aussies come too, ranking it second only to Newquay.
