Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I will be attempting to walk from Orpington to Ramsgate (about 70 miles) in 24 hours to raise money for the Myfanwy Townsend Melanoma Research Fund in memory of my friend Kerry who sadly lost his fight against cancer on 10/07/2009 aged just 33. It will involve walking right through the day and night for a full 24 hours (from noon on 08/07/2011 to noon on 09/07/2011) if I am to complete my challenge. You can see the route I'm taking here. Anything you can donate will be gratefully received. Incidences of melanoma are on the increase. Back in the 1930's it affected 1 in 1,500, now it's affecting 1 in 50, and it's getting worse, the number of people diagnosed with melanoma has doubled in the last 10 years. Unless it is diagnosed early, there is a very high death rate: and it's the most common cancer amongst young people. So please do give what you can to help them fund the much needed research into this disease, and to raise awareness.
