Village to Village Challenge · 18 June 2012

HYT supports sustainable development in Uganda by using environmentally friendly technologies. British volunteers & Ugandans work together improving lives, providing employment opportunity by constructing water tanks & low cost buildings & training young Africans in useful, practical skills.

Story

Hi all,

As many of you will know, I am currently volunteering in Uganda with HYT for 6 months. I have been here for roughly 4 months now and the time has come to do some fundraising!

HYT's 'One Village at a Time' project helps to sustainably construct schools in villages around the Jinja area. We have recently finished our 3rd School, Namaganda Primary, and have identified our next School to help in the same district, Makoka Primary.

We are going to run from Namaganda Primary to Makoka Primary and back, covering 14km in the heat and rough terrain of Africa. As well as this, upon reaching Makoka Primary, we each have to pull a brick using HYT's ISSB technology (to find out more visit http://hytuganda.com/) which will then be used in the future builing of Makoka Primary.

We have a blog which we (try) to keep updated if you wan to find out some more about what we do - http://www.haileyburyyouthtrust.blogspot.com/

The money raised will go towards training 10 more ISSB masonaries, who will then have the skills after to gain their own work.

Any donations will of course be greatly appreciated, thank you!

Ryan
