The RHN cares for people who have brain damage or a disease affecting their brain. People come to the RHN for many reasons, from a stroke to a traffic accident, or a disease. The RHN provides services and therapies to ensure people with neuro-disability can have the best quality of life possible.

Story

In the last half of June I will be cycling from Land's End to John O'Groats and plan to complete the 910 mile route in 12 days, an average of 76 miles a day. I will be cycling alone, but my Dad will be driving the support car - so thankfully I will only have to haul myself and no luggage up 67,000 feet of climbing.

Last October, my friend Patrick Goodacre, who is only in his early twenties,  was involved in a head-on collision with a car while on his bike in Richmond Park. Patrick was in a coma but is now making progress at the Royal Hospital for Neuro-disability. I wanted to raise money for a local charity, and one which is helping my friend and many others feels a natural choice.  My trip also marks my own recovery from chronic fatigue syndrome, a condition I contracted in 1989. While the scale of the health problems I have had to overcome pales in comparison, I hope my comeback will offer Patrick encouragement in his own recovery.
